Small circles

Wouldn’t it be interesting if “everybody” took action on just a few little things like refusing straws in your drinks and telling out loud every time why. The cashier will hear you, the people in line will hear you, eventually one or two might listen and spread the word.

Movements don’t have to be big, just persistent.

September sunrise challenge

Did anyone remember to get outside at dawn with your cameras? I remembered, but have also been extra tired with that new back problem of mine (which is slowly improving to my normal state of wonky I’m happy to report). And right now I’ve got a cold, but! I did manage a short morning dawdle yesterday on the brink of our deadline. And I’ll keep at it for as long as the theme amuses me. I’ve been thinking of doing some “around the season round the block” kind of projects, actually. Like the view from my new studio windows…

Would be fun if you posted your dawn images (don’t be shy if you’re late) somewhere and added a link in the comments! I have moderation on for links, so don’t worry if they don’t appear instantly.

Crack of dawn

It’s been getting to the time of year when I can actually manage to be up with the sun. Late-summer mornings have their own special light and feeling about them that I really love.

Just have to remember of course, I used to be bright as a button in the morning, but in later years I seem to begin my days in a fog. Dressing to go out in the morning chill and damp grass isn’t the first or even fifth thing happening naturally. Not to mention the fact that my eyes need at least an hour before I can pop in my contact lenses.

So imagine me if you will, in a sudden panic knowing the special light will be gone within 5 minutes, wearing goosebumps, nightie and red wellingtons, stumbling across the dew sprinkled property, followed by at least one fat cat and curious ponies, camera in hand, searching for spiderwebs and gold. 😉

Roses

Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing,
there is a field. I’ll meet you there.

When the soul lies down in that grass,
the world is too full to talk about.
Ideas, language, even the phrase each other
doesn’t make any sense.

Lighten up

march15_2

Sure sign of spring is that I wake up earlier and don’t fall back asleep. I have no way of tracking time by my bed, which is a minor nuisance both in summer and winter, but right now I can get up at the crack of dawn and know that I’ve had enough sleep. (I wake up multiple times in the middle of the night too, not feeling or seeing the difference between 3 am or 8, but I know I’ll ruin my day later if I get perky and rise too early)
