I’m often awake nights at the moment and the question is usually what to do with my time. Am I tired? Yes. Can I sleep? No. I don’t wake up, I simply never fall asleep. For various reasons which I won’t bore you with, but out of my control, and it’s not just the full moon blaring invisibly behind the dark curtain, sucking at my brains. Do I get up or just twirl in endless frustration, hating my bed in the end?

A year of weaving
One year ago I aquired my first rigid heddle loom. Just to sate my curiosity, much like 3 years earlier when I made my own drop spindle to investigate whether one could really make yarn on a stick. Nothing serious like, just testing, yeah? And although I upgraded the stick to a spinning wheel three months later, I was pretty certain this loom would last me for a long time, getting my variation from colour play mostly. After all, I do still have the same and only wheel with no wish to upgrade, it does what I want.
Back in the game
Found a “new” identical motherboard on ebay.de and G graciously installed it for me today even though he spent all of yesterday on somebody else’s computer. Technically I could do that kind of hardware swapping myself, but I’m quite rusty and never as thorough, just tend to ram it all in at once without testing on the way. Because: “oh, it’ll be fine”.

Well it looks like my plan to do some photoshopping has come to naught before it even got started…
Today as I went to sit at my computer, having used it all morning, I got an inactive monitor and locked keyboard. Check all connections, reboot. Not a sound from the machine apart from the power fan, no beeps, no harddrive activity, no monitor activation…
Let there be light
I’ve been complaining about the dark – and earlier this year too. Probably some other posts as well that fortunately I can’t remember. Then I complained about the sun!
