April collage

Replace fear of the unknown with curiosity.” -Danny Gokey (?)

Another month has unfolded and about to run out, with hopes of the next one being gentler for sitting tasks and skinny cold fingers. I’m being flooded with opportunities to practice what I spoke of recently, oiling the door between the brain studio and the public lounge out front. Such as unexpected financial changes looming, a little kitty with patella issues, wacky hormones with the accompanying pains and other bodily distractions. All designed to steer my focus away from “the work”; Godzilla anxiety vs. Wonderwoman calm and joy.

More chaos (studio project 11)

Just as the studio was all lovely and tidy with space to work in, things have been thrown into disarray and corners stacked high with stuff.

And it’s because because because:

So now I have to figure out what to do with this Expedit bookcase, looks like it needs to go back in the house.

Sorry, haven’t been making anything lately to show. I never learned to love that rug and since it was too harsh on my body I cut it off before it reached full size. It can be used to catch shuttles however until I find or make something else. Onwards!

Thumb’s down

Just the one mind you. A few of you may remember me whining about how long the recovery took after my fall 2½ years ago, but I’d finally gotten to a point where it was ancient history, I could open my own jars and everything.

Until this morning. It’s like it’s been newly injured, and I’ve considered not drinking anything all day to eliminate the hassle of getting my pants off and on as a result.

So I wonder, do you think it’s too late to find out what went wrong with it back then?

Well, I guess an opportunity to practice left hand skills – but no weaving. No breakfast either, I just determined I can’t hold onto the bread and carve it at the same time! Utterly ridiculous if you ask me; I think I’m becoming just a little bit tired of all this nonsense.

Anxiously waiting for days of sitting in the garden, not by the woodstove. 🙂 We’ll be back some time after this unscheduled break.

One side or both?

perspective

Something to ponder while my herniated disc takes a break from rug weaving. 30% in now, hope to make it to 50 this week (I had been aiming at done, but forget it). And then I won’t attempt full width again anytime soon.
