So, is summer generally a slow time for blog reading and/or writing? Is everyone outside, bored, hot, “undefinably passive”? It seems everybody is off to pursue their offline activities instead which probably is quite healthy. Unless they’ve moved on to Twitter, she sneered. I tried and I don’t get it. There’s just no way I can sit here that much just to catch one-liners and promotion. It seems if you leave for a few hours you miss all the action.
This post was initially created in April – edited a month later – and then, and then… I’m feeling like I should have been miles away by now, had I continued to work; so I still need to program a mindset to be accepting of this situation of forced headache breaks etc. As well as get back on the horse with my focus keyword perhaps! (actually, sometimes a break isn’t all that bad, many things tend to work in an ebb and flow motion. Can one possibly sync the inside breaks with the outside ones?!)
Natural dyeing with fennel | gather and grow.
Last year I was inspired to sow bronze fennel, even though I thought I was through with food dyeing. Rita Buchanan also mentions it in her book. This year my plants are really growing, so I decided to give it a go. One wool skein, two silk, all alum mordanted.

While I’m trying to get back in a painting groove, it’s nice to have something else to do waiting for layers to dry, so I don’t just end up here, clicking, losing time and mind.
Otherwise just a pretty lazy Saturday. I should get my rain gear and go water the strawberries! (because the hose is leaking on me) I need to soften and till the ground a bit so I can sow some lettuce.
What with headaches and feeling fed up with house work I’m way behind on the weeding, and they’re threatening to take over my projects. But I’m hoping for a bit of rain to help me, hacking away at concrete will amount to very little besides more headaches and sore hands! And I don’t want to run the sprinkler all over the garden for it. (especially because I tend to forget about it and let it run for 3 hours in the same spot)
Just thought I’d un-whine a bit. (but I’m still very close to running out of whites š® )
Incidentally, the warp is not lost nor abandoned, although it is no longer on the loom.
