September sunrise challenge

Did anyone remember to get outside at dawn with your cameras? I remembered, but have also been extra tired with that new back problem of mine (which is slowly improving to my normal state of wonky I’m happy to report). And right now I’ve got a cold, but! I did manage a short morning dawdle yesterday on the brink of our deadline. And I’ll keep at it for as long as the theme amuses me. I’ve been thinking of doing some “around the season round the block” kind of projects, actually. Like the view from my new studio windows…

Would be fun if you posted your dawn images (don’t be shy if you’re late) somewhere and added a link in the comments! I have moderation on for links, so don’t worry if they don’t appear instantly.

The long wait

There are tasks to be done. Lawn to mow, firewood to be carted into the woodshed. Not mine this year, but leaving me with no extra muscle to enlist. House to be cleaned, mine, if not by actual duty, then common sense, but I keep making up other things to postpone it… Gardening, definitely mine, since I’m the one who cares.

And all I can think of is working on my new room, getting it done, moving in, all the things I’m planning to do up there. I renovate a little old window in baby steps. I sweep the floor where a support beam needs to go in next, to help level the others. Draw some pencil lines as guides for a task 4-5 ways down the list. A list all in my head, I’ve got it all planned out. Because I just love building things, I can’t help myself.

Studio project 4

All building has been suspended while waiting for weather and help installing the skylights, as well as resting my back after multiple treatments to help with the nerve pain in my leg. (what looks like windows in my previous photos are just semitransparent roof plates)

Roof plates have to be removed and cut, so it didn’t make sense to put up insulation, and I was beginning to worry we’d have to postpone until spring while I was trapped in the kitchen going bonkers. šŸ˜‰ (perfect time to get those novels off my chest some would say, but it’s been more than 30 years since I thought I had any in me, so that’s hardly an option although it would have been fun!)

Crack of dawn

It’s been getting to the time of year when I can actually manage to be up with the sun. Late-summer mornings have their own special light and feeling about them that I really love.

Just have to remember of course, I used to be bright as a button in the morning, but in later years I seem to begin my days in a fog. Dressing to go out in the morning chill and damp grass isn’t the first or even fifth thing happening naturally. Not to mention the fact that my eyes need at least an hour before I can pop in my contact lenses.

So imagine me if you will, in a sudden panic knowing the special light will be gone within 5 minutes, wearing goosebumps, nightie and red wellingtons, stumbling across the dew sprinkled property, followed by at least one fat cat and curious ponies, camera in hand, searching for spiderwebs and gold. šŸ˜‰
