The duck who laid her eggs in the manure pile might have a good point – I think the manure will give off a little heat as it decomposes, thus aiding incubation. Plus perhaps would be egg-eaters might not be as keen to check out the nest when she’s gone.

yes, I guess it was a good spot – apart from the fact that I was still adding to it every day.
