Cat ladies

For various reasons, the lost girls could not remain where they were found, so 10 days ago they were added to our herd. And now I have double the number of cats I was aiming for… They’ve settled in well, feeling safe around any humans they meet apparently.

Lost girls

Who in their right mind (or heart) would dump such a lovely pair in a random driveway? Luckily not mine or there would have been much discussion whether 6 cats are too many or not…

I get sad when people place such little value on the life of a cat, compared to pet dogs for instance. How can the one creature be more deserving than the other?

Feral cats live miserable lives on all counts. And don’t give me the freedom speach, my well fed, healthy neuters are as free to roam as any, and to curl up warm and safe from weather.

Shame on you, whoever you are.

It’s dark again

And the lamps over the dining table are broken. So I have a very white daylight lamp in front of my painting station but my back is to it when working with small images or other things requiring a table, and it’s not enough in winter gloom. (getting a new lamp obviously, but it’s not as easy as all that to find what you like and need)

I’ve been thinking I’d like to do some big canvasses for a change anyway, but then I’m up against another issue: Uncovered living room floor. Acrylic paints. A desire to perhaps use runny stuff? As it is I spend way too many brain cells monitoring that I don’t accidentally spill or wipe my brushes on furniture, it ruins the flow more than you’d think!

1/3 gone

This month seems hellbent on getting done! Ok, a third sounds a bit more than just over a week somehow, but still. Not sure I’ll be able to keep up!

So it’s not Wednesday for wips and reading, but here at the cottage it’s Fiber Friday, so there.

This is what I’ve got home from the library this month and my still not very advanced holey sweater. I think I’m getting to the beginning of the end of the first two skeins, though.

I managed to dye a bit with Japanese Indigo today, not a lot as my plants were pretty limp from the drought. I would like to do a couple of really dark blue, as well as remember to bring my silk outside too. If nature doesn’t water the garden soon I guess I’ll have to!

I also washed a tiny bit of fleece, the green stuff from the other day. Seems to have cleaned up well enough!

The weather forecast says this might be one of the last sunny, warm days. The coreopsis is running amock, there’s no way I can pick all of them!
